Change to methodology for grouping care needs
Previously, this data visualisation showed the workforce at establishments that were grouped into services for dementia, learning disability and/or autism, or mental health care and then this was shown as either specialist or generalist services.
In 2025/26, we developed a new methodology, in consultation with the sector, to improve the usefulness of the estimates presented here. We have now chosen a new way of grouping these establishments and split into more groups to better reflect the complexity of the services provided to support individual care needs.
