Keep learning to build your future

Our ‘Keep learning to build your future’ spotlight explores the importance of learning and development in securing a sustainable adult social care sector.

We’ll share information and practical examples of learning and development in action and answer common queries around training and qualifications in social care.

Find out how to:

  • prioritise your own learning and development
  • support your team and future workforce
  • understand what’s happening at a strategic level to support development for the sector.

Learning and development is essential for a strong adult social care workforce. Investing in skills creates a more confident, motivated workforce, helping with retention and growth, so we have people with the right skills now and in the future.

Our latest data shows that training can positively impact on staff retention and Care Quality Commission (CQC) Ratings.

The average turnover for staff who had received training was 25.1% compared to 30.4% for those who hadn’t. Organisations with high scoring CQC ratings also have higher rates of training compared to those with lower CQC ratings.

Stay updated with the spotlight and follow us on , , and , as well as through our regular newsletters and communications.

Digital skills framework
The Digital Skills Framework defines key digital skills for adult social care, so all staff can 'go further’ with digital skills.

It guides training, supports personal development, and informs learning providers, helping the sector build stronger digital capability in line with government commitments.

The framework can be used by anyone working in adult social care.

Learning for inclusive care

LGBTQ+ learning framework
This learning framework will help care staff understand how to work inclusively and effectively with individuals from gender-and/or-sexually-diverse communities, including general awareness on LGBTQ+ issues, and understanding intimacy and sexuality in later life.

The toolkit offers additional guidance and practical learning for those looking to strengthen their commitment to LGBTQ+ affirmative care.
